Actually, CFWs are not my invention, just found a bug and exploited it like anybody else. CFWs were made ever since iOS 3. What is so childish at the name GeoSn0w? IH8Sn0w looks better I suppose?Anyways, iOS 10.3 made the CFWs way harder to create because APFS format is not recognized by most of the tools (apart of Disk Utility in Sierra). As I have written on the F.A.Q. Page, restoring successfully and reliably will require an exploit (That can be iBoot (more common) or Bootrom (hard to find, not impossible, don't expect it in the wild).
OF course, you can try exploiting the bug in ASR by pushing the file multiple times (there are a lot of bugs in the restore mechanism. Two of them allowed downgrades to unsigned firmware right now;) ASR is not flawless, and the Restore Mechanism isn't either). The verifications done during the restore are nothing special. Standard SHA-1 digest verification and size checksums.
If you look at the assembly output of a disassembled ASR binary, you will see exactly what is being checked and how the partitions are being mounted on the NAND Flash.Speaking about CFW with Cydia, yes that is not possible. If your CFW contains Cydia and you manage to restore it, Cydia won't start because you are missing a lot of dylibs, you're missing the MobileSubstrate, you are missing the exploits required to gain ROOT access for Cydia, and most important, Cydia will be simply considered a normal app that is UNSIGNED as it is fake signed and to be able to open it, you would need an exploit to patch CodeSign checks, AMFI, etc. So just putting Cydia in a CFW and saying your jailbroken is NOT possible.Removing Setup.App or Patching it (starting from iOS 9.x) is definitely possible and was done in the past. In fact, iH8Sn0w's tool, Sn0wBreeze used to do this to its CFWs, the so called 'Hacktivation'. Of course, this has became very hard to achieve, that's why on my channel is always noted as WORK IN PROGRESS and not a fully reliable method anyone with 0% iOS knowledge should try. Also, restoring in iTunes has NO differences compared to libimobiledevice, u3Tools, Pangu 8 Restore, iTools 3 or any other restore client. All of them proceed the same.
The reason I used libi in the past is due to the real-time restore status output that I could use for debugging purposes. But what 'bug' did you exploit? I agree that ios is buggy, especially restoring part since there are downgrade options now but what bug exactly did you use? Im asking for part of code.because there is part of code in charge for 'flushing' memory part for which you are saying that you are overloading and causing it to restore custom ipsw. Its not possibleAlso you are saying that is work in progress,i agree with that, but how comes that we have same iphones and its working on your and not working on mine?
Or anyones else? You misunderstood the point of the CFW project. It was never intended to serve mass usage.
It is just a project on which I work on in my spare time as it is something that interests me. That's why is free, that's why you only see direct links and never ad scams. You're asking about the bug. The bug itself is the fact that on some devices (and I have discovered a pattern that seem to repeat more on 16 GB devices) if you try many times, ASR app that is in charge of the restore simply flashes the image. I think the issue is caused by the fact that in order to check the hash of the DMG, ASR has to copy and write it to the NAND Flash first, which makes it available before being checked on the device. Normally, if the check fails, the file is deleted, a flush happens, the restore result is saved in the memory and the device reboots.
But some times when you try multiple times it fails the hash but ASR fails to remove the file prior to the reboot making it to start flashing next time you try. Of course, this is a very unstable bug. And yes, it is possible to have different chances on different devices because iPhone 5 has 4 different models, and considering the fact that it can be 16, 32 or 64 GB this results in 12 different iPhone 5 models that actually look the same for different regions. About IGOR, we've worked together in the past and you can see a F.C.E. 365 section on Third Party tools on his DNS Bypass, I don't know what you talk about. Actually, speaking about eBay, you can already see 'CFWs for sale'. And I can give you how many links you want with other people making CFW tutorials by removing or patching Setup.App.
I've never covered anything from the viewers, in the F.A.Q. Page that I've written you can clearly see that I have informed anyone it is a work in progress, it doesn't work on all devices and making it reliable would require an exploit. If you didn't read the page, it is bad, because that means you follow videos without checking the description. Here it is, tell me if I made it clear or not about the limitations:.
